A gestured line: drawn, creased, or torn.
A line that creates an idea of a vessel.
It is at this point an idea evolves.
A sketch that suggests a vessel on paper, a wire translating this in space.

Paper and silver have become my language.
The combination of these materials creates questions about my intent as a silversmith. My intention to create this enquiry is to explore the idea of silversmithing, offering an alternative approach to a traditional skill.

The relationship between architecture and environment, and the balance of space and light, has been influential in the development of my objects. The composition of each collection creates a dialogue, between objects, materials and surroundings. The idea of a vessel is suggested, the function open to interpretation.

Deconstruction in architecture has inspired my methodology. Taking objects apart and viewing them in fragments, layers and structures has given me the opportunity to understand the vessel. The exploration into techniques and processes such as casting and electroforming has been crucial in communicating my intention as a silversmith. My interest is to capture the truth in an object, leaving the marks of manufacture to express the honesty of the material, and reveal the beauty of time and tarnish.
